Sophie's Universe

I would invite any crochet enthusiasts to join the
Australian Crochet Community a closed group but very freindly, a place to share your work; ask questions; learn from others and just enjoy the community.

I can't help myself, I have already made Sophie's garden and Sophie's universe, however, they seem to be. AWOL lol. Not unusual in my house.

So as I can't be without a hook I have started on a new universe and I am so pleased I have as I am more excited this time. I just love colour and because I always keep a home that is neutral colour.
It doesn't matter what colours I use as accents it just seems to fit in.
So I started and within one hour I had got the first stage done and round two of part two. I was pleased with this result and the colour way as it was done in the middle of shopping, enjoying time with my freinds Leonie and Anita, and getting ready for the usual visitors over the holidays.
Tomorrow (Christmas Eve) will be especially busy but very rewarding. A chance to spend time with our eldest son Tony, his lovely wife Renee and their girls (my angels but then I could be biased! Lol), then to our other son Mark and his lovely wife Rachel and their girls, (Boxing Day)'or as my gran used to say "bonnie wee bairns".

I am also finishing a doll of my own design, just picked up the hook and winged it (photo within the week). She is going to be a door stop and I have fallen in love with her.
Plus several WIPs I need to finish as I am creating my own line of home furnishings.
So all that's left is to wish you all a happy holiday, stay safe. L

Wow what a year!

It has been a very  challenging year due to a health problem that meant I was totally prone in bed! Lovely you may be thinking, well as hard as it was, I was spurred on to use my trusty crochet hook and I had at least as much time as I wanted to crochet my heart out.
In the last three months I have made a Christmas Wreath which was featured in

Attic24 www.attic24.typepad.com and it is stunning. Please support this page it full of scrumptious ideas and free patterns. Check out the wreath on her website, mine is all ready to assemble when I'm home from hospital Friday. A really relaxing thing to do and such a joy to make

A QS  blanket from www.cherryheart.co.uk pattern Painted Roses available on Etsy. Her page just inspirational, most of my work is influenced by both Attic 24 and Cherry Heart. I changed colours and yarn thickness as it was for a bedspread. It took 3 months, was made in Stylecraft Special Chunky and had 144 blocks plus border. I do feel a bit smug I must admit, but aren't we allowed a moment when we put the hook down and just think ... I did that!
Plus many amiguri pieces (all presents sorry folks) and my first forays in to this.
And lastly a tutu and head band for our new grand daughter Aubree who is now 5 weeks old.
I would also like to thank Mashed Up Wreaths on Etsy for making a stunning festive wreath for my front door. Aftergot (Etsy) for her stunning patterns for decorations, and not crochet related either The Waughdrobe millinery also on Etsy for her stunning hats for every occasion customised for chemo patients.
That all said it's been a hard year health wise but also a blessed year.
Please have a very happy, safe holiday and if possible remember that their are elderly, lonely and disabled amongst us that just may feel special if you pop over with a treat or just to share a cuppa.
A minute or two of your time changes lives and does pay it forward.
Bye for this month and I will share pics with you next month.
